Leonard Glenn Francis, a Malaysian businessman, was sentenced to 15 years in prison for bribing US Navy officials.
He gave them cash, expensive trips, and other things in exchange for classified information and inflated contracts for his company.
Francis escaped house arrest but was recaptured in Venezuela and brought back to face justice.
This scandal, known as the 'Fat Leonard' scandal, has hurt the Navy's reputation and made people question the trustworthiness of some of its leaders.
