Leonard Glenn Francis, known as 'Fat Leonard', has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for his role in a major US Navy bribery scandal.
Francis, a Malaysian businessman, bribed top Navy officials with millions of dollars in cash, luxury travel, and other perks in exchange for classified information and inflated contracts.
He escaped house arrest in 2022 but was captured in Venezuela and returned to the US to face justice.
The scandal, which involved the 7th Fleet in the Indo-Pacific, has significantly damaged the Navy's reputation and trust in its leadership.
