Heliotrope, a US studio, has designed a new kitchen extension for a historic Seattle home, originally built in 1933 by a Norwegian ship captain.
The extension, designed to blend with the existing home's Scandinavian vernacular style, features warm and subdued materials like heavy timber, wood, and brick.
The new kitchen features a large island, a breakfast nook with custom-designed furniture, and a planted garden on the flat roof.
The extension's design respects the historic house while creating a distinct character that complements the surrounding landscape.
