French prosecutors have arrested Pavel Durov, the founder of the messaging app Telegram, as part of an investigation into criminal activity on the platform.
The investigation, opened in July, focuses on allegations of child pornography distribution, drug sales, money laundering, and a lack of cooperation with law enforcement.
Durov was detained at Le Bourget Airport near Paris on Saturday after arriving on a private plane from Azerbaijan.
He remains in custody and has not been charged, but the detention period can be extended until Wednesday.
