Cyclone Chido, one of the most intense storms ever recorded, recently ravaged Mayotte and Mozambique causing widespread devastation and numerous fatalities.
In Mozambique alone, at least 34 people perished, mostly due to collapsing structures from the cyclone's powerful winds.
Hundreds more are feared dead in Mayotte, a French territory, with extensive infrastructure damage hindering rescue efforts.
The combined death toll from Cyclone Chido is expected to rise significantly as rescue operations continue and missing persons are accounted for.
