U.S. forces conducted airstrikes against nine targets in Syria, targeting Iranian groups in retaliation for attacks on American personnel.
The strikes were carried out by U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) in response to several attacks over the past 24 hours.
CENTCOM emphasized that the strikes were intended to weaken the Iranian-backed groups' ability to plan and launch future attacks.
The U.S. military official responsible for CENTCOM, Gen. Michael Erik Kurilla, issued a clear message: attacks on U.S. and coalition forces will not be tolerated.
