Police in Antigua have charged a man with the fatal stabbing of a member of parliament, Asot Michael, who was found dead in his home on Tuesday.
The suspect, 26-year-old Alexta Francis, was arrested two days after the discovery of Michael's body and is scheduled to appear in court on Monday.
Michael, a wealthy businessman and independent member of parliament, was known for his philanthropy but also faced controversies, including an international bribery scandal.
The police commissioner commended investigators for their work and stated that the motive for the crime will be revealed in court.
