Two men have been sentenced to 35 years in prison for the murder of Ugandan Olympic athlete Benjamin Kiplagat, who died on New Year's Eve in Kenya.
The court found that the killers followed Kiplagat in his car and then stabbed him to death, making it clear they planned to harm him.
The judge emphasized the cruelty of the act, stating that Kiplagat was a defenseless person whose life was taken too soon.
Kiplagat's mother, while pleased with the verdict, had hoped for a life sentence, highlighting the tragic loss of her son and the impact on their family.
