The Skipinnish Oak, a majestic ancient oak tree in the Scottish Highlands, has been crowned UK Tree of the Year.
This remarkable tree, believed to be over a millennium old, was hidden within a plantation of Sitka spruce on the Achnacarry Estate.
It was rediscovered in 2009 by members of the band Skipinnish, who led conservationists to its secluded location.
The Skipinnish Oak won a public vote against 11 other contenders in the Woodland Trust's annual competition, demonstrating its enduring appeal and the power of community engagement.
