An ancient oak tree in the Scottish Highlands, known as the Skipinnish Oak, has been named UK Tree of the Year.
The tree, estimated to be over 1,000 years old, was hidden within a Sitka spruce plantation on the Achnacarry Estate.
It was discovered in 2009 by members of the Scottish band Skipinnish, who led conservationists to its location.
The Skipinnish Oak beat out 11 other contenders in a public vote organized by the Woodland Trust.
