A humpback whale, entangled in a massive 800kg of fishing gear, was rescued off the Gippsland coast after a week-long search.
The whale was spotted near Loch Sport on June 23rd, but disappeared before rescuers could reach it, only to reappear near Lake Tyers on June 29th.
Using a tracker, the team successfully removed the tangled ropes and buoys on June 30th, allowing the whale to swim freely once again.
This rescue operation highlights the importance of responsible fishing practices to protect these magnificent creatures and their habitat.
