The Trump administration has officially reversed a Biden-era plan designed to compensate airline passengers for significant delays.
This plan, introduced in 2023, would have mandated compensation ranging from $200 to $775, alongside free meals and rebooking options.
The core issue was that the rule would only apply for disruptions directly caused by the airline, such as mechanical failures.
Although consumers widely supported this, airlines heavily opposed it due to anticipated increases in operating costs and ticket prices.
