Former President Donald Trump has been ordered to pay damages to singer Eddy Grant for using his song 'Electric Avenue' in a 2020 campaign video without permission.
The judge ruled against Mr. Trump, finding that he violated Mr. Grant's copyright and must compensate him for using the song.
The video, which featured a clip of the song, garnered millions of views before being removed from Twitter.
Mr. Grant's legal team argued that the use of the song was not protected by the fair use doctrine, which allows for limited use of copyrighted material in certain circumstances.
