A nineteen-year-old Israeli man, Edan On, avoided jail time after an assault incident involving a pipe at a pro-Palestinian protest on the UCLA campus.
On was charged with misdemeanor assault for swinging a pipe at protesters during a May 2024 demonstration, but a judge granted him diversion.
The judge considered On's age, lack of criminal history, and full-time employment when making the decision, despite objections from prosecutors.
On's diversion agreement includes community service, anti-bias training, and a ban from the UCLA campus to resolve the case.
