Ford has announced a temporary halt to production of its electric F-150 Lightning pickup truck, citing sluggish demand for electric vehicles.
The automaker will idle its Rouge Electric Vehicle Plant, located outside Detroit, from mid-November until early January.
This decision comes after Ford previously canceled plans for a three-row electric SUV and delayed the launch of an electric version of its popular F-150 pickup.
Ford is adjusting its production strategy to focus on profitability and sales growth, indicating a shift in focus away from solely electric vehicles.
