A giant burst of energy, called a solar flare, has erupted from the sun and is headed towards Earth.
This flare could cause a strong geomagnetic storm, which might disrupt power grids, mess with satellites, and even affect our GPS.
The good news is that we might get to see the dazzling northern lights in unusual places, maybe even as far south as Alabama.
The sun is getting more active these days, so we can expect to see more of these events in the future.
