This autumn, Earth will briefly have a second moon, a tiny asteroid about the size of a city bus.
Captured by Earth's gravity, this mini moon will orbit our planet for approximately two months, from late September to late November.
It will then return to its usual path in the asteroid belt, a region of space rocks that circles the sun.
This phenomenon is not new, with previous mini moons observed in 1981 and 2022, and the current mini moon is expected to make another visit in 2055.
