A Greek oil tanker, the MV Delta Sounion, carrying one million barrels of crude oil, was attacked by Houthi rebels in the Red Sea.
The ship, now immobilized and without a crew, poses a significant environmental risk and is vulnerable to further attacks.
The Houthis, who control parts of Yemen and have disrupted shipping lanes in support of Palestinians in Gaza, have said they will allow a rescue mission.
Moving the tanker, however, will be a challenging operation, as it is currently located in waters patrolled by Houthi vessels.
