Scientists are studying how ancient people called the Clovis, who lived thousands of years ago, hunted giant animals like mammoths.
They think the Clovis people might have used sharp weapons called pikes, which were planted in the ground to impale the charging mammoths.
This method would have been very powerful, unlike throwing spears, which might not have been effective against such large animals.
Experiments using replicas of Clovis weapons suggest that this hunting technique could have been used to take down these massive creatures.
