Cuban officials have issued a warning that blackouts on the island will worsen due to a lack of fuel, adding to the country's ongoing struggle with food and medicine shortages.
To conserve power, local governments have started implementing measures such as delaying sporting events and university classes.
The officials stated that citizens outside of Havana can expect power outages lasting up to eight to ten hours a day, starting from October.
Cuba's economy has already been severely affected by the pandemic, resulting in a significant decrease in GDP and production levels.
