Burkina Faso's military government is considering bringing back the death penalty, which was abolished in 2018.
The last execution was in 1988, when four individuals accused of a coup d'état were sentenced to death.
A government source confirmed that the death penalty is being discussed, and will be proposed to the Transitional Legislative Assembly for approval.
Justice Minister Rodrigue Bayala stated that the death penalty will be included in the draft criminal code, and will be implemented if approved.
