This week offers a fantastic astronomical event: the moon and Spica will appear close together.

From London, around 10:15 PM on July 3rd, look southwest for this celestial conjunction.

Spica, the brightest star in Virgo, might look like one, but it's a binary star system.

This binary system consists of two enormous stars, much larger than our sun, providing intense light.
