Veteran NASA astronaut Don Pettit marked his 70th birthday while returning to Earth after a remarkable seven-month mission.
His Soyuz capsule landed in Kazakhstan, concluding a journey of 93.3 million miles encompassing 3,520 Earth orbits.
Accompanied by two Russian cosmonauts, Pettit completed his fourth spaceflight, accumulating over 18 months in orbit.
Following a successful landing and medical evaluation, Pettit is set to return to NASA's Johnson Space Center in Texas.
