Eleven Yemeni detainees from Guantanamo Bay have been transferred to Oman, significantly reducing the prison population.
This move leaves only fifteen detainees remaining, the lowest number ever recorded at the controversial facility in Cuba.
The US Department of Defense expressed gratitude to Oman for its cooperation in this effort to ultimately close Guantanamo.
The transfer is considered a substantial step towards fulfilling long-standing objectives of reducing the prison population.
