A French prosecutor has requested a five-year prison sentence and a five-year ban from political office for Marine Le Pen, leader of the far-right National Rally party.
The prosecutor also wants the ban to be immediate, preventing Le Pen from running for president in 2027.
Le Pen is accused of using European Parliament funds to pay for party workers, rather than for assistants.
She denies the charges and claims the prosecution is trying to prevent her from winning the next presidential election.
