The beach near the Santa Monica Pier is one of the ten dirtiest beaches in California and Baja California, according to Heal the Bay's annual report.
The report, based on water quality testing from last year, highlights the impact of pollution from storm drains and sewage spills.
Despite efforts to improve water quality, several beaches continue to struggle with pollution, particularly those located near urban areas and storm drain outlets.
Officials recommend avoiding swimming near storm drains and waiting 72 hours after rain before entering the ocean to minimize exposure to harmful bacteria.
