The FBI has confirmed that the individual who attempted to shoot former President Donald Trump at a Pennsylvania rally used an AR-style rifle that was legally purchased.
The suspect, identified as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks from Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, was apprehended at the scene.
Authorities recovered the rifle, an AR-style 556, which was purchased legally by Crooks's father.
The FBI is currently investigating Crooks's motives and movements in the lead-up to the shooting, seeking to understand the factors that contributed to this incident.
