Terrence Shannon Jr., a former Illinois basketball player and current NBA draft prospect, has been found not guilty of rape and aggravated sexual battery charges.
A jury in Kansas reached this verdict after a trial that included witness testimonies and closing arguments.
Shannon, who maintained his innocence throughout the proceedings, had been initially suspended from the Illinois basketball team following the allegations.
He successfully challenged the suspension in court, allowing him to return to the team and contribute to their Elite Eight appearance.
